How do people still do this?
Anyway, as I mentioned in the previous post, people in Ohio would always call me “Michelle.” My hypothesis was that 1) It was fairly close to Melissa and 2) I’m Asian American (which apparently was really obvious to white people in Ohio) and the only Asian American they were familiar with was Michelle Kwan. Some people just did it to be racist jerks. Asian face + M-name = Michelle?
